LIVINGROOM & HALLWAY
A substantial granite block fireplace anchors the living room that is divided into several seating areas. Antiques and oriental carpets abound. An ample library with the owner’s gathering of books related to the sea and full collected works of leather bound Ernst Hemingway and Mark Twain complete one side of the massive fireplace. The other side of the fireplace features an alcove sheltering an antique ivory carved warrior from a visit to China many years in the past before giving way to windows allowing that special Sconset light and air to flood the interior. It’s difficult to pass the Steven Swift rocker parked by the fireplace. The coffee table was once a nautical chart cabinet that now supports a bronze octopus displaying all eight arms in motion.
